Here I go again…letting the days go by without posting our updates. I’ve been busy trying to get us ready for Justin’s family to come for Christmas. His sister and her husband should be walking in the door anytime now with Justin, so I thought I would let you know what we’ve been learning lately through our Advent experience as I wait for them.
Days eighteen and nineteen were both from Luke 2:8-20. The first was focused on angels as we made a choir of two angels (a duet really I guess) and the second on the shepherds. Landon thought the sparkle we added to our angels was appropriate because he thinks they would have been bright, since the shepherds were terrified at first. We made our shepherds move their arms all around to tell everyone what the angel told them and what they saw wrapped in cloths.
Today we made the temple for our craft, and we read Luke 2:21-40. This day focuses on the two people that Mary and Joseph encounter as they go to dedicate Jesus to the Lord at the temple. Simeon takes Jesus in his arms and praises God saying, “My eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all nations: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and the glory of your people Israel.” Anna similarly speaks about Jesus to those around. I can’t imagine what Mary and Joseph were feeling as these words were spoken about their child. For our temple craft, we cut out our own temple from pretty scrapbook paper using a template. It was fun for the boys to add Simeon and Anna to the front of their temples. :)
Are you doing Truth in the Tinsel with your little ones~ if not scroll down to the bottom to see what it is all about? If so, which day/craft have they enjoyed the most? Hopefully I will be able to continue to update regularly as more of the fam arrives. I still
