I got my Benjamin Moore paint in the mail yesterday, so the painting will begin! I found a good article from HGTV on distressing furniture and another from Alchemy Fine Living, so I’m going to follow their instructions. At first, I will just paint the door the base coat (Barely Beige) to see if it matches the chest. If not, I will sand the chest and paint it with the base coat also. Here is the link to the websites…
I’m so ready for this project to be complete to see the finished product. I went to Hobby Lobby earlier this week, but could not decide on the the items that I want to attach to the door and the handles for the top of the chest. I figured if I could see the painted outcome of my hall tree, that it would give me a better idea. Better get started distressing my hall tree, so I can go back to Hobby Lobby tomorrow!
The material on top is some extra material I had from some bench cushions I had made a few years back for or kitchen bench. I’m going to get a foam insert and sew it ~assuming I get my broken Singer sewing machine working- it has a blown fuse from our time in Germany :) ~ to make a cushion. That will be another post.
