Each day so far Landon and Judah look forward to looking in our advent calendar for the paper clue of what ornament we are going to make that day. Yesterday was Zechariah (which was a fun one to do because they loved raising their hand each time his name is repeated in the Luke passage~ the school teacher in me coming out :P). The fun part of this ornament craft is that once they make their Zechariah they get to pop his mouth (it is a mailing bubble from a mailing envelope that had the big bubbles inside of it) so he can’t talk because of the angel Gabriel not allowing him to until his and Elizabeth’s baby was born because of his disbelief. We talked about how we want to believe what God tells us.
Today for Day Four our clue was Gabriel and we read the Luke passage about how he came to Mary, and unlike Zechariah’s response we learned that Mary believed what Gabriel told her. Every time I said Gabriel or angel the boys rung their jingle bell. I try to have them take part in the reading by giving them a job, so it helps them to listen. :) So, today’s craft was an angel. I had to help Judah a little more with today’s craft. Hard for those three year old hands to get the wrapping paper folded like a fan and getting the pipe cleaner in the bell. Here are some pictures of our Gabriel day.
