Yesterday was day ten for our Truth in the Tinsel activities. It was tricky for us last year, and we finally figured out how to make the pillow the way Amanda did in her ebook, Truth in the Tinsel: An Advent Experience for Little Hands!! –Click here to visit Truth in the Tinsel. Well, I say “we” when really Justin figured it out. In the directions you are suppose to fold the material in half to start making your pillow- which is to represent the dream that Joseph had when the angel came to him. The part
we I stumbled on that is not mentioned is that you must fold each end of the folded in half material over a little when making your small cuts in the material. So… I would add the step “Fold over each end as you make two small cuts on each end close to each edge.” The main point that the boys learned from this passage was that the angel told Joseph two things to do to show his obedience to God~ Go ahead and take Mary as his wife and to name their baby Jesus. Joseph did what the angel told him to do and so he obeyed God. It’s nice that us parents can learn and relearn these lessons from the Bible along with our kids. :) Am I obeying God with what He has spoken to me?
Today we will be making “The Name of Jesus” on craft sticks. I probably won’t be able to post about it until to tomorrow, but we’ll see! :) Stay posted (get it?) for a post on an exciting and fun-looking way to memorize scripture, and I hope you get as excited as I am! I’ll give you a little hint or preview if you will. I’ve done previous Beth Moore Bible studies, and she started a year-long scripture memory girl’s club last year- not really a club, but it seems like it. Ok, I guess I gave you more than a hint, but can you sense my excitement?! I want accountability to help me to know more of God’s Word, and I think this is just the thing!! I know that I can memorize scripture on my own, but I think this “thing” would be a good aid to really hiding it in my heart. So, again, stay tuned for what it is and the details ~ or you can get all investigative (is that a word?) and find out what I’m talking about yourselves. :)
