Are you loving Truth in the Tinsel yet? This is only my second year doing it, but I know that this is making this time of year my favorite! On day Six we focused on Mary and Elizabeth from the Luke 1:39-45 passage. I love this day especially because the kids get to water color. This year I bought water color specific craft paper, so it doesn’t go through the paper and make it all soggy! When we read the passage together, we waved to Mary and Elizabeth every time we heard their name read. :) After reading the passage we talked about what the baby (John) did inside Elizabeth’s womb when Mary came and why Elizabeth was excited to see her- Elizabeth knew Mary was carrying God’s son (verse 43). We talked about how exciting it would be for them to talk about their babies and look forward to everything, which I learned is a stretch to talk about even with little boys. I had to explain how excited you get when you have a baby, because you know that God is creating them in you and you can’t wait to meet them. Thankfully that didn’t arise any questions I didn’t want to answer! So, to complete this craft I printed out OhAmanda’s template printout and then taped it to my water color paper (b/c it is a thicker paper-to have as a template), so I could cut it out. Then I used those as templates for Landon to trace onto his water color paper. I traced Judah’s for him. After that they water colored and cut their Mary and Elizabeth’s out.
Day Seven is a fun day as well and not too hard of a craft. You just need some stones or glass stones (Hobby Lobby is my favorite store I might add) and an old cd. We read Luke 1:46-56, which is about Mary’s song to God. She praises God for several of His attributes through song. So the craft is to put your glass stones on the cd to make a beautiful song too. We talked about what she was praising God for (His Mercy, His Might, His Mindfulness of us His servants). I asked the boys what they would praise God for and that was a little hard for them to internalize themselves. It did make Landon want to sing “Oh Come All Ye Faithful.” :)
Here are our pictures from Day Six and Seven.
Here is the sweet video of Landon and Judah singing the part “Oh Come Let Us Adore Him…” of “Oh Come All Ye Faithful”
